The Road to Clearer Skin

What better way to start the first day of the week then with a facemask!! I do these typically on Sundays becuase it is when I have the most time. The first thing people see when they see you is your face. So why not do your best by trying to look your best. You only have one face so take care of it!!

Going through pubertiy for me was not a cake walk. I was already tall and thin, finding jeans long enough for me was always an issue. It completly discouraged me from shopping all together, till this day it is still something I don’t like to do that much. My other issue was my skin. I mean it went from smooth as a baby when I was a baby, to pepperoni pizza by middle school. I couldnt believe that I was breaking out so much when everyone in my family had this butter cream skin, flawless. I had never seen my mom with a pimple, nor my grandparents on my moms side either. I was cursed.

I made a personal choice to stop drinking sodas and switched to juices and water in the 6th grade. My mom noticed my frustration with my skin, dealing with break outs and the scars they would leave behind and helped me try different products and regiments.

The most extreem thing I recal trying was wiping rubbing alcohol all over my face and leaving toothpaste on pimples to dry them out (Iv done the tootherpaste recently, it works). My mom went to Las Vegas and she bought me ProActive! I was so excited, it was on TV for like 50.00 and up and she got it for 20.00, I dont know how but that is a steal. I instantly started using it and I saw results. Only thing was that it had what felt like a thousand steps. I began to only use about 2 of the products for a while before I found Neutrogena and fell in love it work fast and the moisturizer was great too.

That was a lot I just shared but I felt it was important just so you know about my struggle. Skip to present day, grown woman me. I absolutly try not to stress or benge on chocolates and sugary drinks becuase I would surely be asking for a breakout. My skin is not too oily but not really dry, its like a combination. So what I always want in a product is something that will help cleanse my face becuase I do where make up, fights blackheads and keeps my skin moisturized. I shop at LUSH for my bath and shower needs and I was shown this mask that at first smell I just had to have it! Its called cupcake, such a cute name. fw6I tried it and it left my skin feeling amazing! Iv been using it for about 4 months now and I believe it works. Aside from pimples I think I hated the scars the most. Since taking my skin care serious my scars have almost gone away and since comitting to a regiment my skin has cleared and lighten as well.

Cupcake Directions

  1. Wipe face with warm cloth
  2. Apply mask to entires face avoiding eyes and eye brows
  3. Let sit for 15-20 min
  4. Chill
  5. Wash off
  6. Apply moisturizer of choice
  7. Enjoy the glow

Me using the Cupcake mask!

The mask is a chocolate brown color, it has cocoa in it and you can really smell it too. It’s a very thick consistency and yet easy to apply to face. It draws out the dirt and impurities, as you leave it on it will get hard and feel tight but it doesnt hurt at all. I chose to use a towel to wipe off the mask becuase washing it off with just water can get a little messy. wf2I probably wont have the most flawless skin but I do want it to be nice, youthful, suculent, evenly tone and soft.  To maintain my healthy skin I drink lots of water, try to stay away from sugary treats and drinks, wash my pillow case & scarf often, wash my hands and keep them off my face, clean my make up brushes and wash my face often but not to much with the cleanser beacause it will dry it out or worse, burn it. That acrylic acid is no joke!! When I was struggling with my skin I would never ask people with flawless skin what do they do because they don’t do anything!! I would ask the person with a few scars here and there becuase they understand. If you been in my shoes, or currently battling constant outbreaks I realize that there is nothing that could be said that could really comfort you.

No matter how many times people told me I was pretty & beautiful all I saw was pimples, scars and a mole which I already thought was enough already. For some people the acne may never clear completely, tones of make up may be bought to cover it in efforts to  avoid looking at it but what I always thought about was that it did not define who I was. People were still able to see past those blimishes and see the real me even though it took me a while to see it and I know the same will happen for you.

So I’m now in my late 20’s and I have definitely struggle with acne most of my life. when I was younger, my mom took me to the doctor and they always prescribed me harsh creams and face washes that we usually dry out my skin. One of my doctors prescribed birth control but my mom was totally against it when I was younger. Being older, I am against putting a lot of chemicals in my body so I currently do not use both control. One thing I have found that has helped me is switching to plant-based washes. As of now I’m using a plant-based face wash and a plant-based toner. I use raw shea butter as my moisturizer and it keeps my face from drying out throughout the day. I also take plant-based hair skin and nail vitamins (just started this one so TBD).

My face has been getting better since I switched over to more plant-based products but I always find it starts to break out around my menstrual cycle (something still working on). I’m going to look into this cupcake mask you are referring to. I’m never tried face masses before and it is something that I want to maybe add into my regiment once a week.

    1. I used raw shake butter all the time especially when I’m out of my usual neutrogena which has 15 spf in it to protect me from the sun. I did mention how your skin can burn from those harsh chemicals and it’s happened to me twice! I haven’t tried anything plant based yet but I will look into it too. My cycle gets me as well not to mention I crave chocolate so I’m still battling that

I use a product line called Sukin (their super Greens line) it’s based out of Australia. For my vitamins I use mega foods brand. I’ve been using Sukin for several months and I’m really likely their line. This is after trying to many others over the years, I think plant based is better for me.
