Be Pedi at Home

Since the shelter in place has been set which started early March many companies and services have been shut down completely. Leaving only essential businesses open, I don’t know about anyone else but I completely forgot that nail salons and spa’s did not make the cut as an essential businesses. I am sure that I am not the only person that feels the nail salon is essential. On the upside, I have saved money but it was brutal attempting to get my fake nails off. Amid the pandemic we are encouraged to stay inside, only go out for essential things or work and wash our hands. The weather is getting warmer, peaking at almost 70 degrees by 11am and some of us have opted for sandals instead of the walking shoes. I enjoy sandals and I enjoy it more when my feet look and feel great as well.

I used to give myself pedicures all the time in bowl then my friends upgraded me to a home spa and I loved it, I recently had to pull it back out for obvious reasons. I am going to share with you my steps on a great home pedicure, remember this is an experience!

9 Must-Haves For The Perfect At Home Pedicure - Blush & Pearls
Example of a at home pedi kit

  • Bowl that can fit both your feet comfortably. If you have a foot spa that is great of course. Fill half way with warm water. I like to make my water hot and then let it cool to my perfect temperature and then I boil and extra pot of HOT water so I can switch the water out its warm.
  • Add ins- Epsom salt, bath bomb, a little lavender scent body oil
  • Tools: exfoliating glove, foot scrubber, foot egg (if its serious), foot file, nail and or both cuticle clipper
  • Towel(s). Things may get messy so its good to have something down under your bowl and a towel to dry your feet. I used my dog pads! how genius I mean they are made to absorb.
  • Foot cream
  • Socks
  • Glass of wine

This is a very simple process and is really up to you on how much time and effort you want to put in and also most importantly its based off you foot needs. You may just want to soak and give them a good scrub while some may want to go for a full in home pedi spa deluxe experience. From me to you this is my simple chill in home pedi. I always take a good shower first but on comfortable clothes, take care of all my chores so that I am able to relax therefore when I am done I don’t have much to do but clean up and sit back down or go to sleep. To start always make sure your water is not scorching hot when you put your feet in. No one is trying to go to the hospital for third degree burns.

Once you draw your water add in your soaps , bath bombs, Epsom salts etc. let your feet soak in the water for about 7 min. I usually play soft music, light a candle or two and even put cucumbers on my eyes or a face mask and sip my wine. I mean why not do it all at once while my feet are soaking. This is a no phone zone, complete self care time. Then one toe at a time you may want to cut down any long nails, clean under them, cut cuticles, scrub with a brush or stone. After I usually change my water then let my feet soak some more and then I massage them. Its time to DRY! lastly, using my foot butter lotion/cream/ oils. After, I slip into some socks and that’s it!! You just saved $35.00 +

You should feel very warm and cozy. Now this may not be like the professional salons and its so much better to have someone do it for you but until they open up this is a great alternative.
